What is “wellness”? At Santa Marta, we believe wellness is about being the best possible version of yourself so you can continue to enjoy life your way and on your terms. So when it comes to defining what wellness is, that’s as unique as the individual. However, we do offer a range of activities designed to promote your physical, mental, social, and spiritual wellness while providing a sense of purpose.

As a resident-driven community, we don’t determine our monthly activities calendar or prescribe a specific approach to your health and happiness, you do. Here’s a small sampling of our 200 monthly activities, but residents are adding, changing, and suggesting new options all the time.
Physical wellness
Fitness for every level with Silver Sneakers, chair yoga, floor yoga, Tai Chi, flex and stretch, ping-pong, bocce ball, and walking groups
Aquatic wellness through water fitness classes and a buddy swim program
Health support on site including weekly blood pressure clinics and home care services as needed
Stay informed and proactive with regular health and wellness talks led by physicians
Intellectual wellness
Lifelong learning opportunities through engaging Osher classes and enrichment programs
Brain-boosting games including bridge, mahjong, bunco, and canasta
Technology with confidence through hands-on computer classes
Social wellness
Come together often with movie nights, Friday Happy Hour, BYOB evenings, and dances throughout the year
Explore beyond campus with outings to local shops and cultural performances
Connect around shared interests through a variety of resident-led groups
Care for one another through a resident-created buddy program that fosters connection and check-ins
Spiritual wellness
Lifelong spiritual growth through ecumenical retreats and interfaith services
Meaningful connection through Bible study, daily rosary, and Mass
Reflection and renewal in two on-site chapels and through outreach opportunities
