Friends and Family of Santa Marta,
As we officially transitioned into Autumn earlier this week, it’s hard to believe we’ve been under COVID-related precautions for about six months. While Fall will undoubtedly bring a change in scenery to our campus, we’re hopeful our status as it relates to the virus remains largely unaffected.
On Monday, we tested all residents in healthcare, with another round of tests scheduled for next week. Results of those tests are pending, but as is, we continue to have no active cases of COVID-19 among residents.
Unfortunately, through our weekly testing strategy of team members, we identified one asymptomatic staff member (out of approximately 180 tests). Contact tracing was completed promptly, and any close contacts were identified and notified.
With this case, we currently have three COVID-positive team members, all who are self-isolated at their respective homes. We’re praying for swift recoveries, and will provide an update on their status as appropriate.
We know how anxious residents and families are to see each other. Please know it’s a request our team is actively working to safely accommodate. In the next few weeks, we hope to be in a position to share information on an indoor visitation plan we’re developing.
As always, we appreciate your understanding and patience, and continue to strongly encourage video calls and window visits to stay connected, if possible.
Any questions or requests for communication support with a loved one can be directed to me or the Santa Marta Management Team at updates@www.santamartaretirement.com. Current updates and other initiatives and goings-on can also be found on our website and Facebook page.
Thank you and God bless,
Chet Surmaczewicz
