Friends and Family of Santa Marta,
Our community is pleased to report that we still have no active cases of COVID-19 among residents.
The skilled nursing CNA and the healthcare dining server who previously tested positive for the virus continue to successfully recover at home. No other positive team member cases have been identified.
We have yet to receive results from our ongoing weekly testing efforts for all health care staff, which were initiated per guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. We will share results in our ongoing website and Facebook updates as we receive them.
Our community is administering strict safety protocols and procedures following the latest recommendations from local, state and federal health authorities. Outdoor visits remain temporarily suspended given the high positivity rate of COVID-19 tests in the surrounding area.
Johnson County’s 14-day rolling average of positive tests is 11.6% and we plan to resume outdoor visitations when this rate falls below 7%. This would indicate the number of local cases is declining and would put us close to the national average of 5.2%.
In the meantime, we encourage window visits and video calls as a way for families and loved ones to connect with residents. Your continued cooperation and understanding help ensure the health and safety of everyone at Santa Marta.
Please feel free to contact me or the Santa Marta Management Team at updates@www.santamartaretirement.com with any questions.
We greatly appreciate your support and prayers as we persevere through this challenging period.
Thank you and God bless,
Chet Surmaczewicz
